Evidently the celebrity world was rocked last night at the announcement that Britney Spears younger sister is pregnant at the age of 16.  Oh the shock and horror of this!  Cancel her show immediately!  She’s no longer a good role model!  Her parents should hang their head in shame over this!

I have a few thoughts….

1.  The day before Jessica Alba announced she was pregnant with her boyfriend’s baby.  If we’re feeling the shock because Jamie Lynn isn’t married, where’s the shock over Jessica?  Does it really matter if you’re 16 or 21?

2.  Where are the pro-life groups?  This media circus is the best advertisement yet for getting an abortion.  Seriously!  Want to ruin your career and have every photographer on your doorstep?  Get pregnant at 16.  I wonder how many stars that are condemning her had abortions in their teens or early 20s when a baby wasn’t in their career plans?

3.  If you’re looking at her as a role model, didn’t she become a bad role model when she decided to become sexually active so early?  Today’s news is just that she got caught.

Don’t get me wrong.  I don’t think we should glamourize teenage pregnancy.  However, I think it’s hypocritical to condemn her for not aborting the baby because it isn’t a convenient time.
