So the first of my Netflix movies arrived today – Oceans 13 and The Painted Veil. I ended up postponing my trip for a night (long story), so I settled in to start what I imagine will be a marathon of movies through January.
Put in the movie and ….

Nothing. The DVD player won’t play anything.
It was a year ago this weekend that I bought a new DVD player because my previous one had only lasted a year and a half. That one was a Sony. This one was a Toshiba. I’m not buying crappy DVD players. Correction. Evidently I AM buying crappy DVD players, just not cheap ones.
So, I ended up watching the movie on my Macbook.
Why is it that companies can get away with making DVD players they don’t expect to last more than a year? Shouldn’t they have some accountability?
Did you try unplugging it? Leave it for a few minutes. Let it reset itself.
