Red, Yellow, Green

Last night at our meeting we talked about the Antioch church, our church and the responsibilities of being a sending church.  There was an analogy to a frontier camp that you really had to be there to get (and even then….), but it has got me thinking.

The big point was that in this type of a church there are red, yellow and green people.

Green people have the go from God and are in the midst of being sent.

Yellow people are there for a season getting stocked up on resources, taking care of character issues, or are basically taking a season of waiting for the green light.

Red people are there  permanently and are the ones who care for, build up and prepare the yellow and green people to go.

Made me think about the seasons of my own life.  In Boston I was clearly a red person (though I thought I was a yellow person going back home any day now) leading small groups and preparing hundreds of people to be sent out on the next season of their lives.

In my last home in the US I thought I was a red person, but I was actually a yellow person.  I was getting built up, refined, taught and prepared for this current “go” season of my life.

Not sure what I am now.  I am here as a green person, but I’m also working on building up others who are going or have gone.  I think it will still be a while until God lets me know if I’m just here for a season (perhaps to be built up, prepared, etc and then sent back home as a green person) or if I’m here for longer to be a resource to the community.

What colour are you?
