After watching the Gwenyth Paltrow and Jeremy Northam version of Emma last week I couldn’t resist picking up the book.  It’s amazing how much detail the movie misses out.  Suddenly so many things made more sense.  And the character of Frank Churchill seemed a whole lot less appealing than when played by Ewan McGregor.  If it is possible, Mr. Knightley was even more lovable than when played by Northam.

As enjoyable as the book proved to be, I still didn’t enjoy it as much as Pride & Prejudice.  I though the book didn’t have the same sense of pacing and there were some sections that seemed to need a little editing.  I guess everyone is entitled to have a favorite Austen, right!
